One of the most scenic and noticeable of Crestone’s spiritual structures. Just 2.5 miles away from the Baca Vista. A place for prayer and meditation.
It's about a 30 minute easy hike uphill from the parking area to the Ziggurat. This cement spiral tower is a great place for reflection and meditation. The sand can get very very hot during the day, and there are cactuses and yucca and other spiky plants near the path, so closed toed shoes are recommended for this hike.
Take your binoculars! Easy hike to the top of the hill and spectacular views! 4x4 is best as the road is rough but you're able to park close and still make the walk.
The Ziggurat, a local landmark, rises from a rocky hill on the southeast edge of the Baca Grande. Elevated on the top of a small hill amidst the desert and the bright skies, it is the perfect place to get a full view of the cozy town. It’s a small town, but you’ll be taken back by the vastness of it. With air as pure as it can get and great views, it definitely is a rewarding trek. The mustard tower is something else even from a distance, with the stellar background of the mountains and the skies.
