This magnificent French chateauesque home was completed in 1902 by Thomas and Jennie Kearns, Park City magnates who made their fortune in silver mining. It is now the official residence of the governor of Utah and family.

Dsigned by architect Carl Neuhausen, best known for his design of Salt Lake City's Cathedral of the Madeleine. Visitors can explore the residence as part of free guided tours, available during the afternoon hours in June, July, August, and December. Advance registration is required for tours at least 24 hours prior to desired visit date and time.

Amazing! A block down from from this home is the Governor's Mansion. THE HISTORIC GOVERNOR’S MANSION The Kearns Mansion, the official residence of Utah’s governor. This magnificent French chateauesque home was completed in 1902 by Thomas and Jennie Kearns, who made their fortune in silver mining. The couple chose the world’s finest craftsmen and materials to create an architectural masterpiece on Salt Lake City’s South Temple Street. Shortly before they moved into their home, Thomas Kearns was elected to the U.S. Senate and the family toured Europe collecting furnishings for their new residence. They raised their children in the home and engaged in philanthropic causes throughout the city. Several years after her husband’s death, Jennie Kearns generously donated the home to the state with the stipulation that it be used to house Utah’s Chief Executive. It served that purpose from 1937 to 1957 and from 1978 until today. Public tours are available the 1st Wednesday of every month from 2 to 4 p.m. You can register online.
