The closest beach only 200m to the clifftop with two ways down to the beach. A set of stairs located in the far corner of the car park or alternatively continue to walk along the cliff past the Post Office, Pebble Beach Restaurant, Ice Cream Shop and the Beachcomber Restaurant to find a slope leading down to the beach. Barton has a mixture of rocks, stones and sand depending on the tide and time of year. If your planning on a swim its a safe clean beach but can be a little difficult exiting the water when waves are bigger. Look west towards Hengeistbury Head and Swanage for an amazing sunset!

Slightly east is Naish Beach, in front of the clay cliffs. The border between Dorset and Hampshire is formed by the stream which runs underground in the valley (known locally as the Bunny) here. The beach is one of the best surfing beaches on the south coast when conditions are right! The clay cliffs are also very popular with fossil hunters, but please do not climb on the cliffs as they are very unstable and there can be deep soft mud. Sharks teeth can be found along the shoreline at low tide – look for small black triangular stones at the waters edge.
