A fun rainy day trip. This museum is small, but worth the trip.

A visit to the Woods Hole Aquarium is a must - with our without kids. Visit the seals in their outside pool. Learn about marine life from the very accessible exhibits inside. Stroll down quaint Water Street and see WHOI, research ships, statue of Rachel Carson on the waterfront, art galleries, and coffee/ice cream shops. Rain or shine, a perfect day.

The Woods Hole Science Aquarium displays approximately 140 species of marine animals found in Northeast and Mid-Atlantic U.S. waters. The Aquarium is designed for self-guided tours of the main exhibits and a behind-the-scenes look at Aquarium operations.

Founded in 1885, the Woods Hole Science Aquarium is the oldest public aquarium in the nation. It has about 140 species of Northeast and mid-Atlantic fish and other marine wildlife on display. You can take a self-guided tour of the main exhibits, and the aquarium offers behind-the-scenes tours. The touch tanks of crabs, small fish, sea stars, and whelks are popular with kids.
