From the lonely planet guide: "The southernmost of the region's two salt museums is housed in a beautifully restored 16th-century windmill opposite the Mozia boat dock, just 10km north of Marsala. It has displays about the history of salt production in the area, including a film in multiple languages. From 4pm to 6pm on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons in summer, you can see the windmill in action.

The Saline della Laguna are located in western Sicily, on the coast that connects Trapani to Marsala. A unique area facing the island of Mothia, along the famous "salt road", the gateway to the Stagnone Islands Nature Reserve. The suggestive windmills frame a landscape made of basins, canals, mounds and piles. Le Saline della Laguna si trovano in Sicilia occidentale, sul litorale che collega Trapani con Marsala. Un territorio unico di fronte l’isola di Mothia, lungo la famosa “via del sale”, portale di ingresso alla Riserva Naturale delle Isole dello Stagnone.
