Mesa Verde National Park is home to nearly 5,000 known archaeological sites, including 600 Cliff dwellings, that were home to the Ancestral Pueblo people more than 700 years ago. The park offers ranger-guided tours and self-guided tours of the dwellings, multiple hiking trails, evening programs, Educational Lectures, and an on-site museum. There are multiple shops, galleries, and places to eat throughout the park, as well as picnic areas if you decide to pack in a lunch. Mesa Verde offers something for everyone, you can chose to spend a few hours or a few days touring the park. This is one stop you’ll not regret making.

A true gem in our area. Check out the Visitors Center (just 7 miles from us) before driving up the mesa. You can spend several days there. Note that if you want to get up and close and personal to the ruins, you need to reserve spots on a tour. Do so at the visitor’s center. We’ve been on all the tours and each one is worthy; if you have time for only one, we recommend Cliff Palace. Petroglyph Point is also a neat hike - be sure to bring plenty of water in the hot months and be prepared to maneuver around and up rocks and uneven trails.

The park is open all year round and offers stunning views and tours of ancient cliff dwellings. The museum has artifacts and lots of information about the ancient people who inhabited this beautiful landscape.
