Lohagad fort is also known as “Iron Fort.” This fort is one of the ancient Forts of Maharashtra, which is 15 kilometers from Lonavala ((14 kms from Locking Memories Villa, Valvaan Goan Road.) There are a total of four doors of this fort. Whose names are Ganesh Darwaza, Hanuman Darwaja, Narayan Darwaza and Maha Darwaza. Presently this fort is protected by the Government of India. One can reach the base of the fort and then there is a beginners level hike of around 30 mins to reach the top. The steps are well maintained and the climb is easier compared to other forts where the path is raw and trekking is involved. On the top, there is a pond and a temple as well as Samadhi. The best part of the climb is i- it provides splendid views of the area especially the Pawna lake and the surrounding fields. Location:15 kms from Lonavala. Pawana dam can be viewed from this place. Purandar, Sinhagad, Tung and Tikona can be viewed from Visapur. There is a 12 feet long Mortar on the fort.
