This is one of the last remaining, unspoiled Atlantic coastal pine ecosystems in the country. However, this forest is more than just natural. Urban legends speak of the unnatural “Jersey Devil:” a winged and cloven creature that lurks in the forest first thought to be spotted in 1820. Despite the lore, there are some nifty abandoned settlements, houses, and facades that date back to the 18th century. The Pine Barrens
This is one of the last remaining, unspoiled Atlantic coastal pine ecosystems in the country. However, this forest is more than just natural. Urban legends speak of the unnatural “Jersey Devil:” a winged and cloven creature that lurks in the forest first thought to be spotted in 1820. Despite the lore, there are some nifty abandoned settlements, houses, and facades that date back to the 18th century.
