Welcome to The Boathouse built in 1864 in what is known by locals as the Magazines area. FOOD & DRINK (on the doorstep) The Boathouse is nestled between two pubs. The Pilot Boat directly opposite which is a foodie haven, they serve fabulous food daily and have a vast varied menu with lots of local produce. (please see menu). The Pilot boat has a small area for customers with dogs and also has a beer garden. The Magazines pub is around the corner and also serves food with a fabulous Sunday Roast, but is famous for its real ale and is a several times Camra award winning establishment. The Mags has two larger dog friendly areas and a large beer garden. Both pubs have weekly quiz nights and The Magazines has live music on Saturday night. Leaving the property and bearing left around the corner past the cottages will lead you to Vale Park. This beautiful park has a café, play area and the very popular Fairy Village which is the fabulous work of a group of local residents/volunteers. The fairy Village which is set into the trees and gardens of the park is a magical experience for small and big kids too and a perfect place for a stroll with four legged friends. Throughout the school holidays a talent contest/show called joytime is held at the Bandstand, this tradition has been running for over 70 years for all ages of children and is still as popular as ever. On Sundays throughout the Summer months a brassband often play at the bandstand too which is free for all to enjoy (deckchairs provided). A stroll across the brow and down the monkey steps (which can be seen from the kitchen dining area) will take you onto the promenade. Turn right and walk along the River Mersey with the world famous Liverpool skyline to your left, after 10-15 minutes you will find yourself at another pub called The Egremont (Eggy) Ferry which also serves food, its dining room boasts spectacular views off the Liver Buildings. However if you turn left at the bottom of the monkey steps you will find yourself on New Brighton promenade, a popular seaside tourist resort. Why not book to see a play or show at The Floral Paviliion Theatre, numerous reatsurants along the promenade offer pre theatre dinner menus. The restaurants include Portfino (Italian), Flank (steakhouse cocktail bar), Marino Lounge (dog friendly) Ally (Greek/Turkish), all of which we can recommend. There is also a Prezzo, burger king, weatherspoons and fabulous seaside fish and chips, cafes donuts and hotdogs stalls all of which we have sampled for research purposes. And don’t forget café crème (opposite Starbucks) for the best ice cream on the wirral. Should you wish to buy supplies there is a large Morrisons in the same area, if you continue to walk along this end of the promenade the views will not disappoint as the River Mersey is very active and there are cruise ships in and out daily passing the New Brighton lighthouse and Napoleonic Fort. The beach along both sides of the monkey steps is beautiful anytime of the year. Other local bars and restaurants can be found on Victoria Road which is a short walk up rorm the promenade at the side of the Floral Pavillion theatre, you will pass two cafes Remember When and Driftwood which are both great for breakfast after a morning stroll. Further up Victoria Road is the Olive tree restaurant and Habibi Vegan restaurant amongst an array of no chain independent bars and brewers (well worth a visit). A walk up the hill from the front door will take you to Seabank Road where you will finad a butchers, veg shop, convenience store amongst an eclectic mix of gift shops, coffee shops and vintage shops. There is a fabulous antique shop and a great shop called concept corner which is full of local artisans wares from gifts to candles and cards. My favourite on Seabank Road is The Vintage Interior Fairy where you can grab a coffee whilst browsing through a great mix of French shabby chic antiques and vintage goodies. For exclusive fine dining we can recommend award winning Rockwood Bistro (booking recommended) or for more casual dining try Bootleggers next door, there is also Magic Spices for a fabulous curry. We have included leaflets for local attractions in walking distance which are listed below: The Light Cinema Floral Pavillion Theatre Waterland Golf Bubbles world of play

The Hilbre Islands truly are one of the most beautiful locations for walking in Wirral, or spotting rare and endangered wildlife. The islands are an archipelago, and classed as one of just 43 unbridged tidal islands in the UK that can be reached on foot from the mainland. Hilbre Islands are situated at the mouth of the Dee Estuary, which is one of the ten most important estuaries in Europe for overwintering wildfowl and waders. Hilbre Islands are also important as a stopping-off point for the twice-yearly migration of birds along the west coast of Britain. On the island is the Hilbre Island Bird Observatory. The summer months also provide a perfect opportunity to see Grey Seals swimming just off-shore, bobbing their heads above the water and watching those on the island. They pay close attention, as once the public leaves as the tide comes in, the Seals come ashore.
