Join me, an award-winning fashion designer, for a workshop that celebrates sustainability, design, and maritime history. Together, we’ll transform discarded material—sourced from shipyards in Istanbul’s epic 2,500-year-old port—into a piece of personalized, colorful art.
• Meet at my studio in Kabataş, near the sparkling Bosphorus Strait. I’ll share a quick overview of upcycling, the materials I work with, and sustainable design.
• Let’s create! I’ll guide you through the step-by-step process of making a small accessory such as a keychain, coin purse or mini case from sailcloth and other materials I rescued from Istanbul’s marinas. I’ll share basic sewing instructions and assembly techniques, adjusting my instruction depending on your experience.
• As you work, you’ll feel connected to the centuries of trade, culture, and craftsmanship that have flowed through Istanbul’s ports.
You’ll leave my studio with more than just a memento—you’ll have an upcycled, hand-crafted accessory that tells a unique story.
